Learning Log Week 16

MATH: I did k12.  I did subtracting by ones and tens.

SCIENCE: I did k12.  I started learning about habitats.  There's the forest floor.  The forest understory, and the forest canopy.  Birds, mice, snakes and rabbits live in the forest.

LANGUAGE ARTS: I did k12.  I read a book called "Sheep in a Jeep."  The sheep put the jeep for sale after they had a crash landing.  I worked on vocabulary and handwriting too.

ELECTRICITY:  My dad and I are working on building some of these.  The noise ones and the lamp ones are fun.

ROCKETRY:  I'm planning on doing two more launches over Christmas break.

Learning Log Week 15

MATH: I did k12.  I learned counting back by ones and tens.

LANGUAGE ARTS: I did k12.  I've been reading phonics books with my mom.  I've been doing handwriting and vocabulary.

SCIENCE: I did k12.  I learned seeds grow with water, sun and air.  The roots go down and then all you see is a little green stem and then it starts turning brown and then leaves start popping up.  When animals eat fruit they start to eat it and then it falls and it plants the seed when it goes out the other end of the place they eat.

ROCKETRY: I turned in two rocket launches this week and two rocket banners.  My favorite rocket launch was the high one.

ELECTRICITY: I learned if you build it backwards it will not work, and if you don't have each part connecting then it won't work too.

Learning Log Weeks 13-14

For Rocketry I did a rocket launch at the soccer field.  At first it didn't work, and we found out the battery was dead.  One went 494 feet far.  We had to run after it to find it, and it took awhile.

For Electricity/Circuitry class I'm working on capacitors.  I like when my brother helps me with this class.

For Language Arts I did k12.  I'm reading phonics books.  My mom read a book to me about the little dipper. In the book, there was hardly any water left for her mother so the little girl gave up all her water.  A dipper formed in the sky because of all her kindness.

For Science I did k12.  I learned about sun dials and shadows.  They used to have no clocks so they used a sun dial to see what time it was in the day.

For Math I did k12.  I've been doing lots of subtraction and learning new things.

Learning Log Week 12

For Math I did k12.  I've been doing lots of subtraction.

For Language Arts I did k12.  I've been working on compound words.  You hold your hand over half of it, and you see that the word's not really that big.  I've been doing handwriting, and I read out loud 15 minutes a day to my mom.  My favorite book to read is called, "Chuck".  My mom read a book to me called, "The Country Mouse and the City Mouse".  The cat was very big and scary to the country mouse, so he went home.

For Science I did k12.  I learned about light.  Light can be blocked by a door, but it reflects off a mirror.

For Electricity I learned that if you rub something too hard it will start shocking you...especially your head.  I also did some electricity projects with my brother.  The one that made that space gun sound was my favorite.

For Rocketry I'm working on my next banner for my rocket launch.  I want to do a rocket launch when my family gets here for Thanksgiving.

Learning Log Week 11

MATH: I did k12.  I'm working on subtracting.

LANGUAGE ARTS: I did k12. I've been reading Phonics books and BOB books.  I'm learning sight words like: the, and, a, is, who, look and saw.

SCIENCE: I learned about animals and insects.  You can tell it's an insect if it has six legs and three body parts.  Spiders are close but are not.  They have eight legs and only two body parts which are their head and their stomach.  They don't have antennas.  Mammals don't lay eggs.  They have live babies and feed their babies milk.  They also have fur.  Birds have feathers and lay eggs.  They make the world look beautiful.

ELECTRICITY: I'm working on some new projects.  I want to learn how to do the one with the solar panel.

ROCKETRY: I watched some videos on youtube.  Normally, I'm not allowed on youtube, but I can for school.  There was a big rocket with three engines that we saw lift off and it came down very quickly, but it survived.  The rocket burned a lot of fuel.

Learning Log Week 10

Math: I did k12.  I'm doing subtracting.  I'm good at adding and subtracting.

Language Arts: I did k12.  I read a book called "Amanda Pig."  My favorite thing is that there's a worksheet.  It seems pretty fun.  In the book when Amanda Pig said she would eat the egg and when she said she didn't like it, it seemed like she put it under the napkin.  Her brother seems like he wants to annoy her.  My brothers and I get along very well.

Science: I did k12.  I learned about the water cycle.  First water evaporates because of the warmth, and then it starts to form in a cloud. That's condensation.  Later on in the day it starts to rain down.  That's called precipitation.  If it gets too cold it will snow or hail down.

Rocketry: We're still trying to fix the switch, but I'm working on a new banner for my next launch.  On my last launch I did a lower engine so I didn't lose the rocket like last time.  It was very windy so I had to chase it, but I still found it.

Electricity:  I really have fun making the new projects that are very cool like the one where I got to try dropping it in the water.  I'm pretty sure electricity can move through water.

Learning Log Week 9

MATH: I did k12.  I've been adding and subtracting.

SCIENCE: I did k12.  I've been learning about matter and liquids.  When you have water with ice in a cup, the outside of the cup starts dripping.  The water gets on the outside in the air.

LANGUAGE ARTS: I did k12.  I've been reading about the pilgrims that came to America.  Kids had to work all day, and that would be hard.  I've been doing handwriting.  I've been reading BOB books.

ROCKETRY CLASS: I'm trying to fix the switch for my rocket launcher.  It stopped working at my last rocket launch.  My favorite thing about rockets is how high they go.  I don't like how loud they are.

ELECTRICITY: I did a water project.  It worked if the two pieces were really close together.

Learning Log Week 8

SCIENCE: I did k12.  I learned some more about liquid, solids and gases. I also learned about seasons and the wind.

MATH: I did k12. I did some adding and started doing subtraction.

LANGUAGE ARTS: I did k12.  Here is some handwriting I did. I also read lots of books with my mom and practiced my sight words.

ELECTRICITY: I did a bunch of projects for electricity.  I turned in my favorite one.  I like the one shaped like a rocket, and it has lights.

ROCKETRY: I did my next rocket launch.  I made a banner.  It was windy, but luckily we didn't lose the rocket this time.  My grandpa took a slow motion video of the rocket taking off.  It was loud.

Weekly Learning Log - Week 6

For Math, Language Arts, and Science I did k12.

ELECTRICITY/CIRCUITRY: My brother helped me do some more projects that I chose out of the book.  I like looking for new projects.  I made an alarm go off when I hit the switch.

ROCKETRY FOUNDATIONS: For this class I'm planning my next rocket launch. I also read a story about how rockets were first made.  No one believed he could make rockets, but he did.  Never give up.

Weekly Learning Log - Week 5

For Math, Language Arts, and Science I did k12.

ROCKETRY FOUNDATIONS: Here is my prediction from my first rocket launch.  I guessed it would go high, but not that high!  It went so high we lost it, but we bought another one to use for class.  I think I'll use an engine that doesn't go so high so we don't lose it.
ELECTRICITY/CIRCUITRY: My brother helped me do some more assignments for this class.  I like when I can make the fan spin.  It's really fun when it spins up in the air.  Here is a picture of my favorite one this week.

Learning Log Week 4

For Math, Language Arts, and Science I did k12.

ELECTRICITY/CIRCUITRY: For this class I worked on my second assignment.  I did a lot of projects where the fan makes noise.  I used the spin thing and it spins super fast.  I also tried some of my own projects.

ROCKETRY FOUNDATIONS: I set off my first rocket.  It went too high, and we lost it.  We're going to use a smaller engine next time.  We looked for the rocket for an hour and couldn't find it.  We're going to buy another one and use the other one from the school.  My favorite thing was watching the rocket go over the clouds.  It was very loud.  It left a big black mark on the round piece.
I also made a banner for my rocket launch.  I named it Moon launch.  I did a drawing of the lost rocket.
