Learning Log Week 25

MATH:  I did Dreambox math.  I did function machines mostly.  I really like it.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read 30 minutes a day.  I got two new books in the mail today.  One is Star Wars and one is Iron Man.  They're level 2, and I'm doing really good with them.  I really like the Star Wars book.  I did spelling and writing in my journal.

SCIENCE:  I learned how you can mix food coloring.  We did green, orange, blue, and pink.  It mostly turned black, but once we grabbed some paper strips and put them in it became rainbow after we pulled it out.  You can mix colors together, and then you can also make it so it is hard to get it separated or you can make it so you can separate it easily.  It depends on what you mix and how you separate it.

ENGINEERING:  I'm working on some projects with my dad.  I need to turn in my next one.

HISTORY:  I learned about Mississippi.  It's at the bottom of the U.S.  I also learned about Michigan.  There are lakes around it.  I'm filling in my map on the wall.

Learning Log Week 24

MATH:  I did Dreambox math.  I started doing function machines adding numbers backwards and forwards.  I've been adding blocks to make them the same length and same number.

LANGUAGE ARTS:  I read 30 minutes a day.  I did spelling and handwriting.  I wrote in my journal.  I did a craft with colored paper and shapes.

SCIENCE:  I learned about mixtures.  Some things mix together and some things don't.  Oil and water do not mix.  Water mixes with milk and juice and things kind of like water.  Oil mixes with butter or other greasy things.  If you add soap most of them mix together...even oil and water.  Soap is kind of like water and kind of like oil so it can dissolve both.

ENGINEERING:  I'm working on some projects with my dad.  I hope to be able to turn in my next project soon.

HISTORY:  I learned about some of the Eastern States.  Massachusetts is where the Mayflower ship landed with the pilgrims on it.
